About Biphasic Mesothelioma
Biphasic mesothelioma (also called mixed-cell or mixed type) contains both epithelioid and sarcomatoid cells in the same tumor. It accounts for approximately 20-30% of mesothelioma diagnoses. Prognosis depends primarily on the percentage of each cell type — biphasic tumors with predominantly epithelioid components have prognosis closer to pure epithelioid, while predominantly sarcomatoid tumors have prognosis closer to pure sarcomatoid. Treatment combines approaches used for both cell types. Median survival for biphasic mesothelioma is typically 8-15 months.
Compensation Tracks for Biphasic Mesothelioma
Three parallel compensation tracks are typically available: (1) lawsuits against asbestos manufacturers + premise owners, (2) trust fund claims (60+ trusts hold over $30 billion), (3) VA disability for veterans (mesothelioma rated 100%; asbestosis + asbestos lung cancer also covered).
